Making the radio tower tee

Every shirt is printed in small batches with water-based ink on heavyweight cotton.

We wanted the shirt to feel like something you might find in an old equipment case: simple from a distance, full of little details once you get close. The radio tower is slightly crooked, the lines are intentionally uneven, and the signal marks around it are different on every print.

The tower drawing came from a doodle on our first setlist. It was meant to be a quick reminder for the lighting operator, but it kept showing up in notebooks, on amp cases and eventually on the wall above the rehearsal desk.

Our friends at the studio in Bandung helped us turn it into a screen that could hold up on fabric without losing the rough edges. We tested a few brighter colours before settling on the warm ink that looked best against black cotton.

Printing by hand means no two batches are perfectly identical. Some shirts have a little more ink in the corners; some have a tiny shift in the tower. That is part of the point. It should look made, not manufactured.

If you see us on tour, bring it to the merch table and we'll add a small mark to the inside label. Consider it an unofficial membership card for the late-night frequency.
